Eltortu, its probably a california mantis.

All I know is they are fun to watch eat bugs...this particular laid three huge ooths. My kids and I, usually find a bunch of mantids around the local parks, but not this year...we blame global warming!

Blame everything on global warming! :p. You could probably incubate them and use some of the offspring as feeders. They normally hatch out a lot of nymphs

So far we have collected eleven ooths, so next spring we are going to have them by the thousands! :D

What is the sci. name of the jade mantis? The little ghost looks amazing! :D I really love mantids. At the zoo we used to keep and breed Hymenopus coronatus - orchid mantis, and several other sp. :D I hope i can get in it again soon :D

Steaphon- not these mantids! Thats what chinese mantids are for ;).

Ricardo- Theres several species of "Jade mantis" but this particular species is Hierodula multispinna. Orchids are very neat!

I was just taking the trash out, and found her sitting by the gate...
