What gets me through is "tegu checks". Once a week you should annoy your tegu to get them to huff. If they sound like darth vader they are healthy. If they sound like a coffee maker they have a URI and you need to warm them up.

Unfortunately my family really likes doing the tegu checks, who gets to make him hiss this week? Hmm...
