Ok...so what numbers do 10.0 give when new. Because at some point you get too high of numbers correct? But I am with you mine seem a little low

I dont know what a 10.0 puts out.... I dont have 1. I do have a 160 watt MVB. When I set it up on my free range.. I just kept adjusting the height up till the basking branch hit about 82 deg's. then I metered it and got mid 60's I believe Anne told me she was getting 90's readings with her new 5.0's But that must have been unfiltered with the meter rite up to it. My guys branch in his cage is about 8"s below a 5.0 compact fluo. That is mounted horizontally in a hood. I thought I read somewhere the sun on a clear day hits around 300

I actually got a reading of 95, under the mesh at 4the inches. It is a brand new bulb, 5.0 48".
My last 5.0 48" only gave me a read of 32 brand new
Go figure

Is that the Arcadia? Or Zoo Med? Thats a huge discrepancy in output!

I just received an Arcadia 24" today but its not the T5. Im going to try it in my new hood thats going on my new cage......."that isnt built yet"

If I hear good things about the T5...... I can swap out the ballast

So Ive been reading about these Arcadia t5 bulbs. They sound really good but my question is how are you guys using this light with the light fixtures that you have your reptisun in since the reptisuns are t8 fixtures. Are you guys buying a whole new fixture? Or are you using some adapter?

I have a 24 inch(actually more like 22 but labeled as a "24") dual t5 fixture. they wont fit into a t8. the reptisuns come in various sizes i believe.

The electrical prongs on the ends are the same distance on both bulbs, I checked... When my bulb came today the first thing I noticed was the differance in Dia. between the Zoo Med & the Arcadia. The problem I was told, was the ballast for the regular wont fire the T5. You need a different ballast the fixture will work

But don't the arcadias come in 22inch vs a reptisun 24inch? The arcadias will fit in these fixtures just the same as the reptisuns? I have the DIY 24inch light fixtures and an 18inch zoo med light fixture. So, If I change out the ballasts I can use these hoods for the arcadias?

It is a sunleaves pioneer II, you can find them on joshsfrogs(one of our sponsors) and probably cheaper somewhere else. But i think home depot even has dual t5 fixtures.

I stand corrected Just went to the web site... The T5's are 2"s shorter so they wont fit in the T8 fixtures..... Thats what I get for not looking myself & spreading false info someone gave me.... sorry!

Take your meter outside in the sun in the middle of the day and see what it says All of my mvb's show crazy numbers compared to any of my tubes.

Give e a sec and ill tell you what it should read...

BTW-You are definitely correct about the benefits of owning a meter.

At what range are your bulbs showing 10-20's?

Fits like a charm! Both fixtures shown are 24-25" long, first pic is a 24" T8, and the second is the 22" tubed sunleaves.

all readings at 4-6 inches from bare light (no screen) light..

zilla desert series brand new out of the box reads 240'ish (only running for a few minutes).
zilla tropical series a few weeks old read 200 ish.


6 months and older Power suns and solar glos bouncing from 800-1000

couple reptiglo 5.0 approx 4 months 130's -150's
