Solar meter references

Hi, I am looking for a good recommendation of solar meters as I hate not being sure when a bulb is done or not. If you have any good recommendations and a reasonable price I would really appreciate it.

Solarmeter 6.2 Light your Reptiles(site sponsor) sells them. Price is gonna be the same just about everywhere for these. If you dont need it immediately you may be able to just watch for a sale on them on diff. websites.

Got one of these too. Nice to know when I REALLY need to change the bulb. I bought mine from Pangea reptiles a while back. They have a special right now for $10 off if you spend a certain amount...the meter will get you the discount.

I was about to make a post for this same thing. I changed bulbs recently and I'd love to know what return I'm getting for my money on certain fixtures and bulbs.

gotta say, there are HUGE differences.
I purchased 2 5.0 repti's from the same company one read somewhere between 28 and 32 brand new, the other read 90ish!! same everything

So if you don't have a meter, buy or borrow one.
I read all different lighting outside, thru the mesh, w/o the mesh. Full sun, early or late. the difference between 2 inches and 4 inches from your bulb is like 50%.

Todd at LYR was thinking of even renting them for a week, because he too feels it is so important to know the numbers.

Nick..... The Solar Meter is awsome! I have bulbs that werent thrown out yet and found them to still be good Also Listen to Anne.... Even new bulbs can vary alot!!!!!!! You may get a bad or weak 1 & not even know it! Your cham goes without good UVB for 6 Months! Light Your reptiles are out of stock but Pangea has them. Like someone mentioned they may even have a discount going

Thank you everyone this was exactly what I needed. I think I will be ordering one today, it looks like a great product.

Also feel free to talk on the thread I do not own the site lol.

Thanks again everyone, I think I am ordering one from lightyourreptiles.com as they are having a sale and by the sounds of it, it's a great product. I do not want to risk my lizards having improper uvb anymore.

The thought that a new bulb could be faulty and my lizards could have them for 6 months, that scares me....

I have posted this before but I got a brand new MVB for my tortoise and once I got my meter and checked it, it was putting out 2 It should be in the 160 range. My feeling is if you don't get your chams outside often and have a pretty expensive collection it is just plain dumb not to invest in a meter from LYR.

Back on topic kinda..... IM doing a retro fit project to change your T8-T12 to T5 High output. This will give great UVB to any hood!
