Soil for Lay Bin

I was told by people on here to fill a bucket with sand or potting soil to act as a Lay Bin. I have some potting soil at home that is Miracle Grow Organic Potting Mix. It says it contains all natural fertilizers and everything is organic. Is this material safe for the matrix in the Lay Bin? I dont put anything in the cage without being 100% sure it is safe for Camila. Let me know what you all think and if it is not safe, I will get something recommended. Thanks

I use sand only. Here's my girl rayli digging today!! :):):)

Hello your grace ;) ! Females need to have a place to lay eggs even if they haven't bred. They will lay infertile eggs but there are ways you can help reduce the frequency and amount of eggs :)

first. remove that stuff. if your cham ingests it while hunting a bug, it can cause an impaction.

and second- its for when females need to lay eggs.

so what would you put down i thought it was fine i feel like sand would be just as bad and could get stuck on the feeders more often. most of the stuff is a little to big for him to eat or for it to be stuck to a feeder so im not sure what your getting at i never see it stuck to any thing i used to have dirt down but like i said some times it gets stuck to the feeders and i have seen him eat them i did not like this so i put down the other. its like little wood chips and some coco husk like hay mixed in.

your floor should be bare. no substrate needed.

yea tryed that but sometimes though rare he will take a short walk on the bottom as he is hunting/walking around and he slips and slides and gets pissed lol so i wanted to make it more homey for him.
