I ordered a mistking last week it should be here monday so from what I'm hearing you cant run tap water through it or it gets clogged?

I use tap water and It has clogged 1 time in 6 weeks. I popped off the nozzle soaked it in vinegar rinsed well and works fine.

It really depends on what your water source is, how your city treats it. If it is heavily treated (lots of chlorine and fluoride), it will be advised to filter it.

I'm lucky my tap water is very clean, have been using it for almost a year with no problem.

I've been using mine for over a year with tap water and haven't had any problems. I do have a Pur faucet filter, but when the filter needs replaced and I don't have any on hand, I just use straight tap water. I think it depends on how hard your tap water is.

this is from a mass website talking about Massachusetts tap water

"Every day, more than six million Bay Staters turn on the tap and take a drink of water from a public water supply. The public water supplies in Massachusetts are among the best in the country, and they are subject to the most stringent government standards in the world."

So I'm guessing this would be ok to use with a mistking? The water might have alot of fluoride in it though, I'll just have to keep researching.

dont have a mist king but deal in water if you have hard water it will eventually clog anything with a small opening hard water is just water with a lot of minerals and calcium and inpurites i it if you filter it it makes it less hard

WOW 14 ppb of Trihalomethanes!! I sure hope you don't drink or shower in that water yourself lol.

Unfortunately, that test result is VERY vague. It doesn't mention at all the calcium, manganese, iron or any of the other minerals and metals that would clog your system.

Clean water by 'Western' definition means 'no bugs'...it doesn't actually mean it is clean and free from contaminants.

Get a full analysis (from city hall) and you'll be able to figure out what's in there.

traditional city water cleaning doesn't minimize mineral content....

you can get a TDS meter and test the water. you want to be concerned about mineral content for clogging.... most faucet filters and things like brita filters are just carbon filters and do not get everything or even the small stuff.

My suggestion is go to one of those shops that sell water for 25 cents a gallon and save your self the worries. They use high end reverse osmosis to purify the water. Ph will be between 6.5 to 7.5. 7.0 is neutral and preferred. Normal tap water can range fro 5.5 to 9 . This is reference for the acidity/alkaline of the water. The TDS/ppm of r/o water is usually below 50 parts per million, whereas tap water can range from 200-750 parts per million which represents the value of desolved solids contained in the water. R/o water also removes many of the chemicals added to the water to "improve" taste , including flouride and chlorine .

You can purchase home R/o systems for as little at $125 that will connect to either a tap or garden spicket which I highly recommend doing.

RO does remove these things... but to maintain your RO membrane you need to remove a lot of the 'stuff' before it hits the RO membrane. pre filters catch the stuff that saves the membrane.

An RO unit for 125 is going to be a very minimal system. this isn't bad, but just remember you pay for what you get. To get water clean for a misting system a simple two stage RO unit could work. I sell these, they work great.

What is an R/O? Thank you!

Reverse Osmosis. pretty close to pure H2o

I'm just going to do that, my tap water would probably be ok but I rather just use cleaner water that way my cham is healthier.
