My fiancé says I cannot get anymore chams. But the thing is the repticon fire show is gonna be here 1 day before my bday this year in Orlando where I live. I was actually hoping to get a baby panther to add to my collection and thought he might get it for me considering I purchased all my chams myself and got him his own baby male veiled who he loves. I'm sooo upset right now and not quite sure how to convince him. Suggestions :(

New boyfriend? ;)

Maybe he's just yanking your chain and going to surprise you with a trip to the show and buy whatever you want for your B-day. Trying to be sneaky to be able to give you the best gift. Call his bluff and tell him you don't want any more chams either.:D Now what's he gonna do for your b-day? lol

^^^ both would work. My fiance said no more animals 3 animals ago. She bought me my veiled. I quit smoking for him. Do u have any bad habits u can sacrific in a deal with him?

I like this but go one better. Honey i think you are right, we don't really need more chams, so what would you think of us sell your xxx cham so i can get a xxx cham?

Dump it in his lap.:):)

Unless he's just setting up a surprise b-day present I'd say it's time to find a new fiance!

I found out AFTER I got married that I'm not approved by my wife for all the animals I want, at least you got a warning count yourself lucky.

Not saying this for you, but I thought about what I would do.

If I had a boyfriend/fiance/husband who didn't like my pets, I'd get rid of him. If he knowingly said something that would make me sad (unless I was completely hoarding them and in need of help) then I wouldn't want that person.

Show him pictures of some panthers, their beautiful colors are likely to win anyone over. You could try threats like above or deals. If you don't have any habits you could give him some rights over the baby, like naming it.

Do you know why he said no more? That might help you find a compromise.

Speak to him honestly and openly. Choose your words. Explain your reasons for wanting another and listen to his reasons for not. If either person is pushed into a situation they are not happy with it will be a point of friction. Friction tends to increase and burn.

He said its because of the electric bill. But what's one more ok two more lights? I told his that I'd get rid of my reading lamp lol. He pays the rent and I pay all the misc bills. I also take care of all my animals which is way more then just 4 chameleons. Im the only one feeding cleaning and caring for them. Including his tortoise his 3 foot python and his veiled. I hope he is just gonna surprise me if not it may be time for a change. :(

Two lights aren't likely to make a huge difference to the electric bill, especially if you are responsible for paying the bill anyway. It might be that there's something else going on, maybe he's worried that it won't be just one more, that you'll end up overwhelmed with the care requirements and won't cope well. Or it might be as simple as him feeling a little left out with all the time you spend on the animals, and not on giving him some undivided attention regularly.

Nobody can judge your relationship other than the two of you though, and there are so many factors involved in this that it's not going to be as simple as getting a chameleon and telling him after the fact, or just fixing all the issues he has with you getting another chameleon.

A couple of my animals (2 female rats and my 13 year old African clawed frog) are getting very old and I don't want to replace them with other rodents or a frog. I just am nesting right now preparing for their loss and the hopeful gain of another 'child' :-/

I know that feeling... I lost a 14 year old Japanese weather loach and was devastated. When we moved I decided to give away my fish, the oldest of which was 13, and all of them we'd had for around 10 years. It's really hard, but I knew the reptiles would be more likely to survive a transatlantic journey than the fish.

I think this is something a lot of us here have to go through! I told my wife I might just go start a Zoo commune when she wanted to put a pool in at the future site of my herp greenhouse...

The problem with "whats just one more hurt?" Is that could be said many times and there has to be a line drawn somewhere. Or else they are just empty words. I do wish you luck though, it was just yesterday I was considering adding a pair of ambilobes to my collection when I dont really have space for more chameleons right now. Id totally have made it work. B-)
