my male veiled regularly tries to chomp me.

hes even made contact, but no teeth, and no blood.

Oh, they can bite and cause you to have stitches! You need to give him time to settle in, after all he only arrived yesterday! Give him a couple of weeks to settle whilst you just carry out the basics, feeding and misting. Then offer food on your hand, but be prepared to hold your hand out for a while. Chams are easily bribed with food! Did he hand feed for Syfox?

Luckily, all of mine have been very 'people friendly', even dear old Tommy who was passed around a lot before I got him (I was his fifth owner). Mine have never hissed or tried to bite me.
