Does it have orange and black/brown bands?
I call them wooly bear caterpillars.

They are said to predict the weather...and are not supposed to be poisonous but may be irritating as a caterpillar because they have itracating hairs similar to tarantulas...moth should be ok...but I can't swear to it...

Yea the one I found “said” it will be a hard and snowy winter here which is good we don’t get much snow except last year we got like one foot which was a lot for us

They are really cool I heard their supposed to “predict” the weather

I remember them from my childhood here in Maine and yes they used to say they predicted how bad winter was going to be but that’s just an old wives tale. I still see them once in awhile but not as many as there was when I was a kid
