my species of cham(dwarf jackson) like the temp from 70 to 80 deg. the thing is that, my room stays between those temps. should i also have a heat lamp or is it not necessary because the temp shouldn't go over 80.

u see my cham has been closing his eyes a lot and at first i though his temp was to high (i kept it at 80-90 before) and once i turn the light off he seemed to get better, but today i saw him with his eyes closed under were my drip lands and he was freezing so i moved him to a normal temp in my cage. im still trying to find out what is making him close his eyes.

does any one also have the same species that could help me out

Are you using a UVB producing light as well as the basking light? You must use both. Chams are attracted to bright light as well as heat, so your cham would still get his daily amount of UV if that's the only light on during the day. Or, you could use a timer to turn the basking light on for a short time in the early morning to help the cham warm up for the day. Then have the timer shut the basking light off before the room gets too warm.

A couple of other ideas. Does your room cool off at night? Jax need a temp drop of at least 10-15 degrees and total darkness at night. If your room stays the same temp day and night that's a problem.

Remember, a cham will feel cool to the touch because YOUR temp is 98.6 F...a lot warmer than a cham wants to be. The best way to determine a cham's surface temp is to use an infrared temp gun. Get one from LLL Reptile or other herp supplies. Pro Exotics has carried inexpensive ones for years.
