So annoyed today >:|

So far I was having a awesome day until I went into a pet store! Cleo had a few crickets left and the usual reptile store I go to is was closed today so went to another one and had my mum take me has I'm in a wheelchair and can't drive, so anyway the other pet store I know has recently started stocking reptiles in this small back room so went and see if they had the size I wanted, they had and as I paying for them mum shouted me and showed me they had just got some new baby veiled chameleons in.

And I felt sorry for them :( there were 3 together about 2-3 months old and a few pin head crickets in there, surely they should be on at least small crickets now and not pin heads?? and I noticed their urate on the one of those fake vines, bright orange it was. I wondered how long these little guys/gals had gone without misting :( I paid for my crickets and mentioned it to the guy who was working on the reptile section and all he said was "Oh there fine" and that was it. They also had no plants to hide, a small UVB and no heat lamp.

I knew they wasn't fine :(

I hate some of these pet stores that stock them and don't have a clue how to look after them. Luckily the reptile store I got Cleo from has been dealing in reptiles for over 10 years and all lovely and healthy and so was Cleo.

The other day I was at petco, and noticed that the 4 or so veileds they had(that were in like a 10"x10"x3' aquarium) had there eyes closed, and there dripper was dripping straight into a bowl that was maybe 2' below the dripper. I pulled the closest employee aside, "Roy Smith" who was not even working in that area, just moving through it. I told him how I noticed that the chams eyes were shut, and that it was a bad sign, he immediatly looked at them to confirm this, he then got a stool to check the lighting, as I had suggested, while he was doing so, I informed him that they would only drink from leaves, and that it would be good to move the dripper above the meager fake plant they had, I had to go immediatly after that, so dont know what the end result was, but Roy Smith was seemed very attentative, like he actually cared! At least he listened to what I had to say, and checked it out! At petsmart I tried the same thing, and the employee actualy became extremely deffinsive, almost outraged! I had to walk out:p But anyhow, heres to Roy Smith! Who deserves a round of applause in my opinion, with all the terrible stories of "deliberate indeference" I hear of on here!

I hate to be this way but I just don't think the big chain pet stores should carry chameleons. Thanks guys for caring, it is sad there is very little we can do.

This one used to just carry rabbits, hamsters, birds etc and have only been stocking reptiles for a few weeks plus I had no choice to buy from there as the other one was closed but now I know what days he's closed shall be avoiding that horrible store from now on :( hope someone buys them who has knowledge of them.

If I had the money I would have had but since I paid just over £300 for cleo and everything she needed, didn't have that kind of money for a while.

So, you bought something at the store anyway? Should have walked out without buying anything to get your point across!

Any store can mistreat a cham. If a PetCo or a mom-and-pop treats their stock correctly I'll compliment them and shop there. If they don't, I won't and tell them why.
