Small Victory

So....I've been really trying to "fine tune" the water delivery for all of our chams, as we have a few very stubborn boys and girls.... Our boy Gargamel, well, I've NEVER seen him drink...ever! No matter how long I mist him or with the dripper going or anything...some have shy bladders, this guy is a shy drinker I guess. LOL. But urates are solid white....lol...not sure how he's doing it. And then we have Azlynn, a new addition, who, as soon as I start misting, she's right in the spray and lapping it up like there's no tomorrow...haha....
So I've been adding in various worms and trying different methods from regular ice cubes to ice "blocks" (basically filling a plastic cup halfway and freezing it for a longer length of drip), warmed by the heat source so they're not too cold, to the regular drippers and hand-misting. (Can't quite yet afford a misting system that would accomodate all the kids....lol...) And finally today, one that had to go to the vet for something totally different a week or two ago but was noticed to be slightly dehydrated.....he finally drank today while misting and the poor little guy....I didn't think he was gonna stop! The more he kept drinking, the more I primed the pump and sat there spraying. (The next step would've been a shower this weekend) The vet said it wasn't bad, but just something to look at correcting...

So yay for Loki and whatever finally triggered him to take advantage of that watery goodness! =) A little silly to share, but sometimes small victories make your day. :D

I know how you feel! I used to see my cham drink all the time and for over 2 months I have never seen him drink! His urates are not the whitest white and it worries me all the time but I am constantly providing water, dripping it on his nose literally and he just sits there! Frustrating! I saw him drink for 2 seconds off a leaf the other day, first time in months but it was so fast, I am like that is not enough! So I guess he must drink when I am not looking!! I am sure he would be dead by now if he didn't drink for 2 or 3 months!!!!!

Yaaay! Lol, I'm glad everyone is doing GREAT. :D

I set up a dripping system that I really like... Since you have quite a few, I think you can use those aquarium dripper valves they sell at Petsmart. Some even have room to accomidate 4 or 5 hoses at time! You can get a BIG jug of water poke 2 holes close together, stick 2 peices of hose in each, and then hook those 2 to the valves... Once you have that you can buy long enough hose to reach to every cage only using one jug of water. It's kind of hard to explain...

I think you explained it well. I can actually picture this thing. I'm lazy and not creative so I just use little drippers and call it a day.

Haha! It's actually not that hard to assemble and pretty cheap. Here are a few of picture of the dripper as it is now. Improved... :D Lol! I'm proud of my work, i'm not creative either but this came out quite well.
