Slimed and crunched

So I have been hand feeding Tatonka since around the second day I've had him here. I still let him chase feeders on the screen every other feeding or so.

Anyway, most the times I let him shoot inbetween my fingers, but this time the roach kept getting out of my pinch, so I held him flat out on my palm. Tatonka already knew he was sitting there somewhere on my hand.

I must had twitched my middle finger because he zapped it, he couldnt get his tounge off so I just took my finger up into his mouth where he continued with three mouth chomps on my poor finger. . .I think after the third chomp he realized it was not the roach.

Long story short, the saliva was so sticky I was amazed. . .best I can describe it was like sap but not a viscous. I could still stick my fingers together after messing with it for awhile and after washed hands. These are such cool lizards.

lol, i was gaped at today, does that count?:)

Edit:

Just incidently A personal footnote: I noticed today how much more brilliantly colored (in his normal happy state) he is outdoors, he really dosent like to go back, Im sure of it.
The Uv lights we use really dont come close to natural sunlight, hes nowhere near as bright under his normal uv tube.
Got gaped at when I went to remove him from his tree! :)

I too noticed that they bask differently when in natural sunlight. Totally amazing that they know the difference between a heat/light bulb and the real thing and bask accordingly! Can't wait till the weather warms up here in the UK then Lily can go out and sunbathe again!

You're a very good man to let him do that. Most of us would cry like babies! Especially with that chameleon! I just love hearing about how he's doing. :D

It is amazing how sticky their tongues are; he's caught the palm of my hand once or twice, and nearly lifted himself off his perch. He did drag me in once with a cricket and I got a good crunch, too - only one, but he held me for a minute while he made sure his cricket wasn't going to get away.
