Sleeping questions

How dark should it be at lights out? My enclosure is up on my loft over looking the lower living room. Its not super bright but not pitch black either. Also his lights come on at 8 am and there are windows across the living room. Ive checked to see if he was sleeping when his lights come on and he was. He climbs down to his sleeping spot and curls up about 30-45 min. before lights out. Just curious how dark it should be as to not interrupt his sleeping.

No lights.. darkness, just as in the forest :)

My chameleon room is not pitch black at night either, but my babies don't seem to mind it. they sleep just fine, and wake up as the sun comes out (i'm in Cali, so that is around 7am at the moment). their lights turn on (automatically) at 8am.
