Sleeping questions

Okay so i walk home from my water polo practice and see my Cham sound asleep, with his mouth just barely open enough so I can see the grey of his tongue but not his teeth. I close my patio door and I see he has barely woken up. He open his mouth like he does when he is licking water then closes his mouth. 1 minute later I Check back on him and he has his mouth open but less than the last time. I know for a fact he Isnt dehydrated because whenever I mist his cAge I do it heavily and he always sips dew an waterdroplets off leaves. Now his mouth is open a little more than the first time and you could see the tip of his tongue. Should I be worried?

Just in case I wasn't clear his mouth was open when he was sleeping. This is the first time i am seeing this.

To me--not very expert--it still seems like he's cooling down. They like a cool night. 60-70 is considered great (this based on what I've read here and at Raising Kitty) and 50 is okay for a night time temp.

When I came home today the very tip of his tongue was out of his mouth while he was sleeping. What the heck is up with that???? Is this normal or something.

not really normal, and if it continues.....then definately not normal.
i think you got a great question for the health section. i went through this with one of my guys and (not to scare you) it turned out to be a respitory infection.......but please dont freak. its way too early to tell. you should try to monitor his behavior for the next few days and try to pick up on any other symptoms. your gonna get TONS of questions about your enclosure and care. i would recommend filling out the care sheet in the health section and posting it in the health section. now to get my opinion, i have a few questions. what are your temps/humidity at? whats he eating? whats your supplaments, and how often? how old is he/she? how long have you had him/her?
pictures help alot because you may have something wrong with your husbandry that we can see right away. so if you can please post some, as they are real helpful. get a shot of your enclosure from different angles and of your cham as well. hope that helps for now. ill follow up in the morning.

The temps at night are at 69 degrees the humidity is at 70 degrees. He is eating crickets and he had some superworms on Saturday. Iwas supplemanting him with repcal d3 only and yesterday I got reptivite and minerall outdoor formula. I dusted his crickets with it and put it in his cage. He does not want to shoot out his tongue recently because he got used to being handfed, and this week I am gonna only free range him and let him hunt on his own. He is 5 months old and I have had him for about a month. I have pictures of him on general photography under "Pics of Raj-Naadir". Also under pics of "Cham not eating" in General photagraphy. The only difference is that there is a new plant that is plastic in it's cage and I took out the sticks. thanks fo your help.

I wonder if a super bit his tongue? I've never had it happen with one of mine, but it's just a thought.

Well I just had this happen to a baby Sternfeldi. He was hunting, eating and drinking fine the day before. Nice stools and urates. He was definitely not too warm. The next day he was still doing it, and by late afternoon he was dead. I have no idea what happened. However, he was just a baby. I think only 2 months old. I'm not trying to alarm you, but if something doesn't look right, it probably warrants a vet visit. Our "exotic" vet here admitted she hasn't seen a chameleon in 6 or 7 years, so I didn't think it was worth stressing him out so she could look at him and not know anything. I let nature take it's course.
