Sitting on the floor?

So it's still day light out, 7:30 PM. Sunlight from my window is also reaching in the room so he should be able to tell the sun is still out. My chameleon just ate today, and had his vitamins (dusted crickets with calcium, no d3). He drank today, fecal matter seem fine… but he is sitting on the floor right now. I got a new plant and there's a lot more foliage near the bottom than before, so it's not too surprising he likes to sleep down there. But usually it's on a fake vine, or the leaf from the plant. But right now, obviously awake, in his resting colors (light colors, the kind when he is sleeping) are visible and he is just sitting on the floor. Not near the bottom, but on the very bottom of the enclosure. he was basking earlier, I saw him eat, I saw him drink, but sitting at the bottom of the enclosure? I don't understand why he'd do that. Literally, on the paper towels, very bottom.

He does go down for some stray crickets sometimes, but he went down there to get ready to sleep. Not all the time, but every once in a while, he heads down to settle down as early as 6 - 7. Most of the time he is up later though.

Yes I will post a picture of my set up. Here it is:

Do you have a picture of your chameleon?

I would suggest changing out your plants to something that your chameleon can climb on. Those types of broad leaf plants are not the best for climbing. Try to find a Ficus or Schefflera. I've used these for many years with great success.

Having proper lighting and misting/watering in place among other things is crucial to having success.

Make sure you have read through the care resources information provided on this web site and try to follow it closely. It is excellent information.
