Silkworms not satisfying???

Idoneous doesn't seem to care too much for silkworms. He would eat one from my hand and leave the rest as if they were not good enough for him so I would put them on his vine and later come back to see that he ate one or two.

Two days later, he ate one from my hand and no more. Put two more on his vine only to come back and see that he wouldn't even eat them, but he was walking all over them!

He sure does love his crickets though, but I like the silkworms for their calcium. Granted I dust everything else in calcium, I'm wondering if he just doesn't like the taste or gets bored because they don't move enough?

I'm waiting for a shipment of hornworms and butterworms.... I'm hoping he likes them more than what he's shown for the silkworms.

I've been feeding Popeye with silkworms lately and he will take one or two and then go on to crickets or locusts. The size my silkies are I think he is full up with one. They are ready to pupate.:)

That makes a lot of sense! Thank you! I will try feeding him one or two small silkworms and the rest crickets. :D

LOL! yeah, I made that mistake.
We had a silkworm pig-out once because I was out of everything else.

Cleanup detail the next day was not fun!!!

if you feed more than a couple, you'll have liquid poo =) so don't worry it's all good

Do you know if silkworms cause constipation? I wouldn't have thought so but since I have been feeding more silkies Popeye hasn't gone for over a week and I think I would have found it.LOL:D
