Silkworm mold?

I bought another silk worm pod from coastal silkworms, which is great btw, but it comes with the food on the bottom, the silkworms, I believe poop and spin silk webs and I believe the food is molding over, I cut the mold chunks off , is that ok or are my silks contaminated and will they harm my Cham? I can't stop the mold from coming back, I transferred them to a different container with better air flow but with the same results. Any advise on keeping these bad boys healthy cuz my Cham loves them, and they don't smell nearly as bad as crickets.

The silkworms seem to be fine themselves

Keep an eye on the mold spores in the food. Your silk worms should be ok, just keep an eye on the chow.

Mold will kill silkworms, I would offer fresh chow every day, and I suggest making your own, also they need large containers with way better air flow than the pods ever offer.

My own chow? Or do you mean to buy the chow and make it at home?

When I would get silkworms in a pod, I'd separate the worms from the food. I keep the silkworms in a plastic shoebox without a lid or a screened lid, and scrape as much poop off the chow in the cup as possible. Then, I'd take the food out of the cup and wrap it in plastic wrap and keep in the fridge.

Umm...I think you have it upside down. Those pods are made so that the food part is at the top, and the silkworms hang from the net and eat at the top, thus the poop falling to the bottom.

Second this, they are made to be placed with the food on the top/lid on bottom, so that you can clean the poo off the lid and it doesn't land on the food.

I transfer my silkworms to a shoe box also. I cut the middle of the lid to glue screen to so they get good air, but don't escape. And I give them new food than what they were shipped with. I replace the food every other day (they usually eat it all the first day anyway, but I don't want them to grow TOO quickly). I've gotten a lot longer out of my silkworms doing this than leaving them in the container. Its also easier to clean the shoe box regularly.
