LOL!! I have a bunch of those too!
I'm just going to let them hatch to see what they look like ;)

If they are not to big, they will make a nice cham snack ;)

You should let them late and have eggs. After the female lays eggs, then you can feed her off. After all the females Are gone, then start feeding the males.

This is the original plan. We'll see how we progress! :)

the eggs are valuable, however, the moths will be completely spent= no nutritional value whatsoever.

You can cut the cocoons open at day 5 and the pupa will be at the most nutritional point- fully ripe.

Feed the pupa off to your cham. It may not be intriguing but it is full of goodness.

Koreans eat deep fried silkworm pupa with some salt and pepper.. and pop them in like they are peanuts.

Oh Thank you. I thought katy tx was familiar.. it always makes me nervous shipping to the south!

I had them shipped to San Antonio ( I work here during the week) and I commute back to Katy on the weekends. How is your inventory??

only smalls right now... and it is so hot that I refrain from shipping to local areas..

hey, just wanted to say that with the female moths, if you cut open her belly, it's nothing but preformed eggs..

the egg shells are pretty tough.. I don't know if it is digestible for a cham... put it this way, one can acid wash the eggs in HCL and it won't even do a thing to the eggshells.. it just triggers a chemical response by barely scratching the surface with the acid.

So, in essence, these eggs probably by pass your cham and may cause more harm than good. But they do make a more interesting treat :D

Now is time to sit back and relax! Waiting for the moths to hatch.. They can mate for days! They're cute little things! My chameleon doesn't like them.. He probably thinks they're way to cute to be eaten!;)
