Silk worm colony under progress

I ordered 100+ silkworms i think it was two weeks ago, and most of them have gotten very large since then or have been eaten by one of my lizards. How many of these should I spare to become moths to lay eggs? Also is it possible to sex these things by any chance, when they are both moths and when they are larva.

I just buy them once a month or so to add some variety. Raising the little kegos seems pretty tough, so I don't bother even trying. I hear dubia and superworms are easy, so if I was going to start a colony of insects I'd start there.

My parents refuse to let me get any type of roach, and superworms well id have to order those too i think and they aren't as healthy a choice as silkies are.

Most pet stores will carry superworms. Petsmart, petco. etc. They aren't so much worm looking as they are centipede looking. Superworms are super easy to keep, don't smell at all, and are a nice lively food for your cham. Silkies require more attention, be sure to wash your hands before handling them!

10 silkworms will be enough to lay over 1000 eggs.

usually, the males emerge sooner than the females. usually.
They are smaller and have bigger wings.

females are fat and have at times deformed wings.

You can sex the silks at 5th instar.. but it's not easy. Given 10 moths you will be sure to get a satisfying number of eggs, given any newcomers to the game.

My dam worms keep dying ffs.... Idk why I change the food every day and i just keep finding dead worms. I stopped feeding large #s of them to my lizards when there were 30 or so left. Kept getting casualties and now theres i think 7 left.. 4 of them died between last night and today alone... idk why this is happening other then some sort of viral outbreak or something.
