Chameleon Info:
• Your Chameleon - Muzzy is a male veiled chameleon, approximately 5 months old. He has been in my care for the past two months.
• Handling – I handle him very rarely, although he was starting to get friendlier until this current problem began showing itself.
• Feeding - Muzzy usually feeds on crickets, although he’s been having mealworms and the odd wax-worm recently too. I gutload with pro-rep bug grub and carrot. Currently he has approximately 10 4mm/5mm crickets a day.
• Supplements – I use ventark calci-dust every day, apart from twice a month when I use ventark nutrobal.
• Watering – I mist once in the morning at approximately 8am, and once when I get home from work at 5.30pm. I also have a dripper that drips slowly throughout the day.
• Fecal Description – Brown and usually white with a hint of yellow. He hasn’t pooped for about 2 days at the moment however. Usually moist, but not runny. Never been tested for parasites.
• History – N/A

Cage Info:
• Cage Type - http://www.reptilecentre.com/vivexotic-viva-chameleon-vivarium_p23259556.htm
• Lighting – I use a 60w household bulb for his heat source, and a 15w 10.00 UVB. Lights on at 8am, off at 8pm.
• Temperature – I have a thermostat. Measures about 85 under his basking light. Lowest overnight temperature is around 70.
• Humidity – Humidity is usually around the 50% mark, although rises significantly after misting. Same thermostat as above measures this.
• Plants – No live plants.
• Placement – Located in my bedroom, next to a window.
• Location - England

Current Problem – I fear that Muzzy has MBD. Over the last few days he has been holding his front legs with his back legs, causing him to be very unbalanced. I’m going to take him to a reptile vet tomorrow, but I want to know what to do in the mean time.

When he holds his leg he seems unable to free it, and it ends with me having to bring him to the bottom of the enclosure before freeing his leg (after a lot of hissing).

Muzzy has also been gaping quite a bit over the past few days, and at times looks very uncomfortable.

I’ve put his light out 15 minutes early in the hope that he shall sleep and rest until tomorrow morning.

Any advice will be welcome, thanks.

For some reason it's rotated...

Sorry, this photo was taken a few days ago. It's the only one I've got of his legs, though not whilst he's holding them.

Another thing if it helps at all, it seems to be later in the day that he starts holding his legs. He seems his usual self in the morning and early afternoon.

He looks good. If it's MBD it should be corrected fairly easily and hopefully without any damage to him. Have you made any changes to supplements, UVB lighting or gutloading recently?

I've only introduced carrot recently, in say the past 2 weeks. Before that I was using pro-rep bug gel for hydration.

Mealworms are also fairly recent too, maybe a month or so.

No changes with the UVB recently.
