But, they should not turn black.

Oh no! Don’t let this deter you! Silkies are awesome and your cham will love them! Only one time have I had problems with my silkies all getting sick (flacherie) and dying. They are my favorite feeder and insect.

Silkworms are a fantastic food source for chameleons, they provide hydration aswell. They just require a very clean environment because years of domestication has left them with a weak immune system. Just daily food replacement and sterilising the containers they are kept in keeps the diseases that affect them at bay (grasserie, flacherie & muscardine)
