I recently took in a six month old male veiled (my second chameleon) after my friend's family no longer wanted him. When I got him, I knew right away that there was something wrong with him (Cuzco). First off, he is extremely tiny, probably the size of a 1-2 month old chameleon. His coloring is light grey and a light blue/green color. He is very weak and shakes when he moves. He also has fallen off of his branches a couple times. He has eaten, but he hasn't pooped very much.
When I asked about his history, I was told that he had been kept in a windowless room with just a basking lamp. He has received no real or artificial sunlight for most of his life. I believe that this is the reason for his size and weakness.
I now have him under a UVB light and a basking lamp. His cage's temp is about 75-80 degrees and he has a steady source of water and supplemented food. I want to do everything I can to nurse him back to health. He has held on this long and I can see some tiny improvement in the five days that I have had him. I am still worried about him and would appreciate some advice!
