Should I get a chameleon?

UVB gives off D3, so dont use as much if its outside. UVB doesn't give off calcium. So you must use calcium without d3 6 times per week.

UVB light doesn't actually give off D3 - animals exposed to sufficient UVB are able to synthesize their own D3. Calcium has to come from the diet (or supplements). Sorry - just thought I'd clear up a common misconception :) I agree, though: animals kept outside in natural light should not need D3, but will need Ca.

OK good. as long as you have w/o d3 your good. a multivitamin is good too. Well, now that I know your ready, GO BUY A CHAM lol. Very rewarding pets.

Um.... Of course you should get a chameleon! This is why e are on the forums duh lololol i hope you can take care of it and go for it is what i say have fun like us:d:d:d:d:d

Why don't you buy a medium size screen cage from LLLreptile for now. That way you can bring it along with you during the move. Then see how your new home is like and then built a outdoor cage for it.

Ugh! Just found out that dubia roaches are illegal here. Of course: another reason to hate Florida ;)

That might nix my plans for getting a chameleon. I hate raising crickets, and they're so expensive to buy. Dubia are so easy in comparison. Plus, I like them as creatures - they're almost cute.

Well if it makes it any better I know of several people who keep dubia in florida...Just dont let them out of their cage!

And as far as i know suppliers still ship here

Eh slowfoot, I wouldn't worry about them too much. I doubt any wildlife officer would be able to tell the difference between dubia roaches and our regular roaches. We get some big enough to carry away a baby.

Also living on North Florida, if they were to escape, they would die as soon as winter comes around. Jacksonville is probably one of the last major cities in the US that actually has a winter. Go lower in the state and it may be a problem.

Edit: I see your in Gainesville. You changed your location on me. :p Your winter still gets cold enough to kill them. Orlando gets into the 50s at night during the winter so yeah you definitely will be OK.
