Should I feed them??

So my cricket box has a few crickets and in an egg crate hole, I saw egg crate shavings. I don't know why they do this. I feed them carrots, a slice of orange and strawberry. Would it be OK to feed them to my cham? I don't know if the crickets ate it though, it looked like they just tore it a little.

As long as your egg crate is not styrofoam, you can feed them.
