I will check into the mist king my next paycheck... this little cham is becoming very expensive!! If I would have done everything right the first time I could have saved some money!! I will blame the petstore for their lack of knowledge!!!

The mist king is something I've never used, but for one small cham is total overkill. If you can find a hand mister that you pump up and gives a constant fine mist then you will have no problem as long as you can find time for 2-3 decent sessions per day.

I do have a hand mister. I mist 2x a day for 2-3 minutes at a time.

Hmmm... could this explain why sometimes he has his mouth open for no apparent reason? My temp and humidity gauges should be here any day now. I'll have to check the temps for certain. In the meantime I do you think it would hurt to go ahead and switch the 50w bulb for a 15 or 25w?

Yes, go ahead and switch it. If they get too hot they will open their mouth.

I set up my new Repti SUn UVB 5.0 bulb last night. I ended up taking the basking light completely away, to see how he would do w/out it. Last night while he was sleeping I peeked into his cage to check on him... his mouth was cracked open. Not completely open, just a little bit. What the heck? Do you think that is something that he just does? How could he be hot if the lights weren't on? My house was 76-77 degrees.

I'm hesitant to even put a 15w or 25w in there now.
Suggestions?

he looks fine to me be patient it could be that he has to adapt properly if he poops he eats and i'm shure that he drinks otherwise he would be dead already so be patient , keep in mind that when his mouth is open al the time he's hot or having a lungue problem please keep an eye on him

His poops like normal and he's still eating. I'm really confused to why he is keeping his mouth open sometimes. At first I thought it was because he was too hot, however, I switched UVB lights last night and completely removed his basking light.
I checked on him around 10pm (when the light was turned off) and he had his mouth opened a little.

I'm totally confused about the mouth open thing too. Most people don't bother but I always put a shallow water dish in with mine. I don't think that will be an issue though. He can't be too hot, he is drinking/ not dehydrated. He is eating well. I want to find out though, so keep us updated if anything changes please......
