My lights turn on around 8am and go off at 8pm. I just received a 4 month old ambilobe and he is healthy see him eat and drink all day but since ive had him (2 weeks) he has been going to sleep at around 2 or 3 in the afternoon.

Where do you live and where did he ship from... Chams do suffer jet lag also... Elwood was shipped to me from the east coast and I am on the west coast... I was worried when I first saw him sleeping at 5 in the evening when the rest of mine lights out at 8. Welp... He was still three hours ahead, and eventually eased in. 2 or 3 in the afternoon does sound a little early... and Yes I might worry. Would you fill out the how to ask for help Q's?

i have ran across the same thing on my panther. i got him from mike at
fl-chams. i have my lights to come on at sun up 7am and go off at 8pm but i have noticed my panther always beds down at around 6pm since i have got him. and thats been 2 months. i dont worry about hes an early sleeper. not much of a midnight party panther:D

Cage: 6' x 3' mesh.
Lighting: Older reptisun 5.0 (new one was ordered a week ago today should be here today or tomorrow)
Temp: not sure I need to borrow a temp gauge but it is a zoo med heat lamp 100 watt thats about 8 inches from the top branch but ive placed my hand there and it does not seem to get anywhere too hot imo. Most of the day he spends on that branch almost laying on his sides he will change each side every so often.
Humidity: I have a automatic misting system i made and also I spray the cage down a few times a day.
Plants: Fake

Cham:
Male Ambilobe
Havent really handeled him besides taking him off the roof of the cage under the lights.
Food: Gutloaded crickets about 10 a day.
Supplements: reptical with d3

What kind of UV light? I see two domes... are you using a compact? or a powersun? I know I bring up the lighting a lot...... but it does matter.

Hi,
you might also consider removing the plant on the lower section of your terrarium (Dieffenbachia) as it is highly toxic. Ingestion of it could kill your chameleon.
Besides that, the terrarium's nice.

Lighting: Dome to the left is just a cfl light just for lighting up the cage a little, dome to the right is a zoo med 100 watt basking light with uva, rear fixture is a new 5.0 reptisun 24' bulb.

Plants: ALL are fake even the bottom one.

Then you may want to add a real plant. It really helps with humidity and holds the water a little better for drinking.

Another thing is he will not stop hanging on top of the cage under that 100 watt basking bulb, isnt this bad and what can I do about it?

Is the light fixture right on top of the screen? If it is he could burn him self. If you hang it just above the screen he should be fine. The babies love to do that. When he gets older he will stop. How hot is it where he is hanging ? Do you have a way to check the temp? Touch it with your fingers if you have to pull off right away it is too hot.

The way the cage is set up I just cant see a place to add a real plant besides the bottom plant, the cage is 6' and the top half i have bamboo rods with vines on them. Im up for suggestions.

I angeled the dome on part of the 24'' fixture and now the tip of the bulb is about 3 inchs from him when hes upsideown, and now i put my finger on the screen for awhile and it doesnt burn me it is warm tho.

I would remove the bottom plant and get an umbrella plant. You can most of the time bend the branches around between the bamboo sticks etc.

You setup looks great , It is just my opinion that some real plant life adds to their quality of life. Not to mention helps with humidity.

That sounds good , Usually when I spray my guy he runs right to that spot.

All my guys or girls always, no matter if they were born here in our place or came from somewhere else all go to sleep at 6pm. If I have one out and can't get home in time he'll stick his nose behind my ear looking for somewhere dark.

My lights come on at 7AM - 6PM. They're eyes are closing and they're in their bedrooms by then.
