I would go ahead and get a 24x24x48 so I did not have to buy a second cage, you can just use part of it. i would also never use a compact UVB bulb as there have been to many chams have problems with those. Other than those two difference I think you have been supplied with a complete and excellent list. jmo

Here is a copy of a shopping cart from Reptmart (www.Reptmart.com) with all of the supplies you would need if you get a baby or juvenile Veiled or Panther. I would get a fixture for the UVB light at Walmart or another big box store, and just put in a 60 watt regular household bulb for basking, and then add an appropriate sized live plant and you are good to go. You can of course get a bigger cage, or it is nice to have a second one for deep cleans or sunning.

Great job, we need this as a sticky or I could use it as a copy & paste list, would you mind?

Of course I would not mind. We could make it more complete by adding a fixture for the UVB tube, and the one thing they did not have was the Flukers Bend a Branch-so I added the twisty vine. I will add the fixture...

Thanks a lot guys! I'm only wishing I could get a chameleon right now:rolleyes:
PS: What would you need the calcium with D3 vs. no D3?
PPS: Are veiled chameleons good with handling and interaction?
PPPS: I read that female veiled chameleons lay infertile eggs without the presence of a male...is this true?
Thanks again!

Save your money! You want to be able to purchase and have some left over for Vet bills, feeders, etc.
You need with D3 and without because the chameleon needs some D3, but does not need it all of the time.
Chameleons are the LAST thing you want to get with an expectation of handling and interaction, they are solitary and territorial, and the vast majority want to be left alone. If you want something to handle get a bearded dragon-they so not stress so much.
And yes, females lay infertile eggs without the presence of a male.

I also saw that it said "live OR fake plants". You definitely want to get live plants (see the safe plant list on the site). They help keep humidity up and catch water droplets that the chameleons drink from. You can get Schefflera (we use those, personally) at a place like home depot or lowes. I've even seen those, as well as pothos, at Stop and Shop (grocery store).

Don't forget a hydrometer to monitor your humidity levels as well as a dripper or, later on, a mist system. You'll also need a spray bottle which you can probably find for around $3.

Along with feeders, you'll need to gutload them as well with veggies and greens and have a place to keep them.
