Anyone have any idea how one would ship a live chameleon from the US to Canada? Like person to person? UPS said they cannot, and i called the site sponsor that ships reptiles and they said they couldn't either =[

Any ideas that would be great =]
Thanks,
Kelsie

I'm sorry I don't think I know what you are referring to? What would cities paperwork be?

Thanks =]

is that how much it would cost? like $2K???

It shouldnt cost that much but close. Add up shipping (from a company that specializes in shipping animals), export/import permits, all other necessary paperwork, and inspection station fees plus the animal. Not sure of the prices in Canada for these types of things but yeah, between 1000 and 2000$. Most companies will not export because of the hassle it is to obtain all the right paperwork and then you gotta be sure the other party has the correct paperwork. If they do export then usually there is a minimum purchase of say 5000$ to make it worth their while.

UPS and any other shipping company WILL NOT be able to ship live animals from one country to another. You however will not need to obtain the CITES permits. That is done by the exporter along with other necessary paperwork. In the US you may or may not need an import permit depending on how many animals you bring in and if it is for commercial or personal use.

You will have to receive your animals at the nearest port, they wont be shipped to your house. Non-designated ports will cost you more in inspection fees but regardless, the animals have to be inspected by authorities and have to come with ALL the necessary documentation or the outcome probably wont be very pleasant:eek:

This brings me to my question. What is Canadas equivalent to the USs Fish and Wildlife Service??????? A telephone number or a website will do;)

Wow, thats no good... I wonder if anyone ships quads to Canada because i am in la la love with them =]

Well that would probably be Canadian Wildlife services... and then each province has their own forestry agents... What are you looking for that might help me answer your question a bit better =]
