ive been speaking to a member off this forum who is intrested in some of my young and hehas some chams im also intrested in, im from the U.K and hes from Canada. ive notced alot of people do ship there chameleons, can anyone give me any information on how to do go about this or point me in the direcion of where i can read up on rules of importing live reptiles, thank you

I'll be happy to help with what I know: First you have to contact your CITES office and tell them what your plan is, they should provide you with all the info they need in order to give you the CITES certificate for your babies. (Usually they need to see where did you get the parents, CITES for the parents, etc)

Once you have the CITES paper work in hand, find an airline or carrier that accepts live animals (reptiles) as cargo. Book, and ship. You will have to include an invoice, so the person in Canada can pay the taxes on it. That's it in a nutshell.

Cheers.

Definitely best to start early on something like this!!;)

I think the hardest part is getting CITES documents for the parental stock which you said you have:) Being they are WC you may have got lucky there. It would seem to get harder if you had F5 babies and needed to track down the parents from 5 generations ago;) I would say I would help answer questions too but Edgar offered. Seems like a great guy talking to him over the phone and he will be a lot more inclined on how Canada operates. Good luck!

Yes I thought I should start to read up on this eirly in order to get a better understanding of how this works, it does seem a lot more simple than I thought it would be and if all goes well I hope we can so this again as there are some beautiful chameleons in Canada that would go well over here and am sure it works the other way to

We have to have CITES papers in Poland. When I bought a cham in Czech, I had to fill papers with info of the breeder - his name, adress etc. and get his signature, that's all. I would guess that's what you would have to do to get CITES.

Well I'm the breeder an the parents are WC so there isn't a breeder to them so it Carnt be that difficult in this case, hopefully

Exporting Chameleons from Canada is different story. That will be determined most likely on the UK regulations and then the Canadian counterpart has to fulfill the requirements. To get chameleons from here to there, you have to contact your local authorities and find out what you need, some countries require animals to have a vet inspection, health certificates, invoice and CITES.

So before importing any to UK, find out first what the legal paperwork is to avoid any surprises.
