Ok guys, I got my new panther today but some serious issues. Her setup was terrible, First off its a 12x12x18 witch is really small, she had so many plants i dont know how she could move! She had moss at the bottom of her terrarium that was SOAKED and when i took it out there was about an inch of watter at the botttom. I tried my best to fix it up but im going away for a week so im hopeing to fix it up when i get back. How does it look, how does she look? Does she look healthy? Gravid? oh and she is very small for a year and a half old. I havent measured her yet i dont want to stress her out. I NEED INPUT!

She looks ok to me. I dont think she is terribly small for a 1 1/2 year old either. my female close to the same age is not much bigger than her. What locale is she?

enclosure needs more branches and a live plant would be good too (what shows in the picture appears fake and inadequate). how much does she weight?

She is "aparently" a nosy be. Not to sure but im going on the girls word who i bought her from.

I am wellll aware she needs more live plants ill probably switch that up tommorow, Ill also weigh her tomorrow aswell as measure her, I didnt want to stress her out tonight so i fugured id just let her sleep. Im hopeing to get her a 16x16x30 All screen and a Hibiscus and ill add some more vertical branches to climb on.

Also she came with a reptiglo 2.0, Will that do untill i get her a 5.0 with her larger terrarium

She needs an all screen cage, not a terrarium. If you read the kitty link below you will see how you need to keep your new lady.

you need that 5.0 asap
in the mean while try to let her get some sunlight (UVB doesnt pass through glass &
glass enclosures are dangerous if left in the sunlight)

I know how to keep a chameleon, Iv got a 7 month old Nosy Be male in an all screen 2x2x4 and a veiled female in a 16x16x30 also a screen, I just got this girl off kijiji as a rescue. I wasnt even going to buy her but i felt bad.

I know i know, iv got both my other chams under a 5.0, the top of the terrarium is screen so the 2.0 is shining through. As far as taking her outside I have plants i take my chams and place on every other day while the weathers nice.

this is what her setup with her previous owner looked like, with 4 inches of soaked moss and about an inch of water at the bottom, When i opend the doors it smelt like a nasty swamp, and she was sitting at the bottom on the edge of the box the fake tree is in.

poor girl

the 2.0 will not produce the UVB she needs
that is why I suggested letting her get sunlight as much as possible
until you get the bulb

Im probably going to put her beside my Veiled and pit the light across both terrariums from now untill i get back. Iv got a friend watching all my animals so im hopeing she will be alright while im gone

and one more thing, how can i fit a laying bin in this terrarium, its very small! is there a smaller size i can make the laying bin?

You could fill the bottom with dirt/sand mix and cover it with some moss. The laying bin should be roughly that size anyway but maybe a little deeper.

well theres about 4 inches of depth so i really dont think that could be deep enough, also i cant tell if shes gravid or not, but if not could i jsut not control if she lays eggs?

I think you need to remember she's lived this long with the set up she has. No, it is not ideal but if you can get her into a better situation in the next couple of weeks, it should be okay.

Unless someone who's an expert looks at those pictures and says "she's gravid and ready to pop" you have some time to fix stuff.

alrighty, im just so i guess you could say nervous being iv never owned a female panther lol, and she hasnt been in my care from a youngster so i dont know how she was kept. But from the looks when i got her, she was kept in the conditions of a firebellied newt or something

She looks more pissed off in those pictures then gravid.
Try to take some pictures of her today assuming she doesn't get mad when you try to take the pictures.

The Kijiji pictures she looked like she was ready to be mated, but who knows how long ago those were from (did they have a timestamp? I wasn't paying attention).

Also ya, get her weighed today. See what she's at. As I told you on Friday, my 10m old new girl came here at a tiny 40g.
