Shes diggin

Well my female faly ayva is diggin today. She started yesterday diggin some test holes. This is a retained clutch. So im thinking it will be smaller than her first clutch. I also reduced her feeder intake after her initial clutch. She laid 39 fertile faly eggs about 5-6 weeks ago. So Im hoping that this clutch will be around 20-25 max.
After this bit of drama is over I'll concentrate on the mitsio's for awhile. I tried putting them together last weekend but it didnt happen. Female was showing receptive colors but wasnt about to let the male mount her. I went ahead and put her back in her enclosure. Im hoping it goes better next time. ;)

Shes still digging. Im hoping she goes ahead and lays. I dont want to have to do the trash can method. Its so much easier not to have to deal with that big a container. Im hoping she will lay today while Im at work and no one will be around to bother her. May have to put a sheet up on her cage.

Scott, I hope that all goes well with your little girl. I worry so every time that Camille goes in the laying bin.

Shes the type that she has to dig about 20 damn test holes til she gets it absolutely to her liking. I only worry about her tiring herself out to much and getting too weak to lay. She's been off feed for about a week so im just trying to give her as much water as i can when i see her out of the bin. ;) Thanks guys/gals I always fret during this part. :)

Don't wait too long. She might need to go to the vet for oxytocin.

She still looks real strong Jann. She is a drinking machine. If I see her laboring in any way I will take her in. Or just go get a shot and give it myself. I hate stressing her by taking her in unless I have too.

This is the worst part about having the little girls. I'm a nervous wreck just thinking about it.

I know. Ive actually gotten better. I used to drive everyone else nuts worrying about my gravid girl. She is sooo close, after dealing with a few diff females and clutches you get to where you can tell its about to happen. Im just trying to keep an eye on her without disturbing her at the same time. :p

I knew it guys/gals she laid last nite I think. I havent had an oppurtunity to dig em up but she's back at the top of her enclosure. I turned the lights ou on her last nite and she was digging away. So i guess she laid in the dark and filled in the hole. She was hunting this morning and she ate 3 crix in front of me right away. Drank a ton right off the bat before her breakfast. Im feeling so relieved. Cant wait to see how many she laid tonight.

Thanks Donna. I checked on her at lunch and misted everyone. She looks thinner and she's basking & eatting. She hasnt basked or ate in over a week. So thats a great sign in my estimation. She's a real trooper though, best female breeder Ive ever had. She lays on schedule every time so far. And she's real predictable in showing her signs for getting ready to lay etc... Makes these things so much easier. More faly eggs in the cooker....:D

im glad it all worked out an she laid her second clutch...hope she recovers good for you.. its askin alot from them that young...

Well I knew it! She laid on Wednesday nite. I dug em up yesterday after work. She laid 34. So Im sitting on a ton of faly eggs guys. Momma is eatting and drinking like nothing ever happened. Thats her last clutch for awhile. Im going to try and cut her back and lower her temps to keep her from producing again this year. ;)
