my male veiled chameleon has been doing great just a couple days ago he stopped eating or eating very little he is now shedding he is about 9 or 10 months old. Is this a common thing when they get older he is my first one and I'm worried about him he still loves coming out of his cage and climbing all over me and my bed. He's still very active also.

At this age his growth rate should be slowing down so he may not be as hungry. Try feeding him every other day. Some chams seem to go off food slightly during a prolonged shed, but not all certainly.

This shed is taking longer than they ever have. It's been about 2 days so far and he's not even close to being done

When the chameleon gets older, they start shedding partially on their body, that is the reason ur chameleon is taking his time shedding slowly.

My guy has started taking a long time to shed as well. Its like one day he shed his casque, next day was legs, then a day later face..etc...

Anyone ever have their chan get extremely grumpy after a shed? Mine is all but done, but man she has been a grump the past few days.

trust me, i haven't once tried to pull her skin. i would never do that! she was just always excited to come out and go outside for some sun. she'd climb right on me even if i was just spot cleaning her house. and now if i so much as walk by and stop to peek in at her she puffs up and gets pissed. she's only nice during feeding time now. it's a total switch from the friendly girl i brought home.

Very good, and Im sure u wont do that to her,I was using the feeling of the pain on pulling the hair off the skin,as she peel off the skin by rubbing herself on the object;maybe the itchness after the sunburn peeling are more suitable example to explain.
And yes they tend to be very nice when they get fed, sort like asking a seal to stand up n clapping when being fed by a fish,I been trying to teach my veiled cham to stand on her hind feet while I holding a feeder higher than she can reach, then I been doing without a feeder n trying to see if she will stand in that same position by just using my hand gesture in any given time ,so far she only be fool three times

that would be super cute! if pickles gets her temperament back under control i may try to teach her that too.

It will be the best if u can have her on ur hand while u feeding her, they also tend to be in the best behavior when they out of their cage puff n hiss but once they are on ur arm or hand, they no longer in demand, they either be calm or they need to adapt to the moment since they can not avoid the direct contact between u n them, and feeding will ease their threatening display, unless the cham is one mean son of the gun n never want to be tame by u,but keep trying, after all she will be living with u for a long while, mysterious moment do happen, believe that.
