Shedding

So I think my chameleon is about to have his first shed with me and just looking for any tips to make it as easy as possible, i witnessed his last shed before i got him and it only took him a day with no issues. Thanks in advance :)

No tips just keep it humid! Don't pull any shed off of your Chameleon. Just let it do it's thing. My Ambilobe always seems to have a piece left over and then sheds it next time .

My chameleon just started his shed today too:) Not sure if its his first or second because I never witnessed his first. He seems to be handling it well but is one grumpy grumpy fella right now!

Awww bless him! Mine is still only showing signs not actually shed yet but he is a year old so would probably take him longer!

Use a spray bottle every hour or so. Most of mine will walk up to the bottle during a shed. Helps with the itchy feeling of the flaking.

I advise not to use water/spray too much during a shed. Any water/moisture that gets inbetween old and new skin layer can become a breeding ground for bacteria / fungi. If old skin is not shed off quickly. You'll see a grayish sheen to skin right befofe a shed. And little more activity out of your cham, as they stretch and puff up to wiggle out of the old skin.

Using a spray bottle as needed, removes the full shed in less than 36 hours. Not enough time for bacteria to grow. If it takes longer, than you have a RH problem that needs to be addressed. Having kept and bred over, 500+ chameleons in past years, I have not had one cham get a bacterial or fungus issue.
