Shedding question

Hi,

Iv had my male veiled cham for about 3 months now. He's about 6 months old. Fot the first month he only shed his skin once. Now it seems like he's always shedding, as soon as he finished one part he will start to shed another. I've read on here normal is about every 3-5 weeks. Is he OK? I feed him about 15 small to mediumish crickets a day and he eats the lot. Am I over feeding him? Any advice would be much appreciated :)

If he's eating all of them, he's fine. I think its because his size is about to grow. He just got into adolescence and now will never be full and turn down food. Except when he goes through phases where he won't eat certain foods. He should be fine.

He's growing... Make sure to stick to a strict supplement regiment schedule, this is when they matter the most. Growing them too fast can be dangerous too; MBD can sneak up on you real easy this way so watch for any early signs. My 6 month old male is eating ~8-10 1/2-3/4 inch crickets a day, he's gotta be over 130g now; I haven't weighed him in awhile. Just keep the humidity up to help with the sheds. Taking a bunch pictures is the only way to really realize how fast they grow up:D!!

What are the early signs of MBD. I dust his crickets at every other feeding and they are gutloaded with lettuce. Is this ok?

I feel sorry for the little guy, always see him scratchin himself.

From reading around on here, some symptoms are lethargy, weak grip, and mishapen body parts (bowed legs, crooked casque). I think some of these are later symptoms, but usually a chameleon starts acting unsual when "something" is wrong.

OK ill keep my eyes peeled! Anything thats not eating, drinking, basking and shedding then eating the skin hehe!

See, this worries me. My male veiled has shed 3 times in the 6 weeks that we have had him (he was 8 weeks old when we got him). He has more than doubled in size and eats between 8 and 20 crickets per day (has been on the lower end the last week). Crickets are dusted with calcium at every feeding, and nutrobal twice a month.

You can use an assortment of greens (dandelions, kale, collards, endive, escarole, mustard greens, etc.) and veggies (carrots, squash, sweet potato, sweet red pepper, zucchini, etc.) to gutload your crickets. The more nutritious the diet the better for the cricket and the chameleon.

Growing him too fast also worries me. If he is always shedding surely he is growing too fast, no?? On the other hand i dont want to starve him. Its so hard to know when you've got the right balance.

Lettuce has little to no nutritional value, I use lettuce soley as a water source, since crickets seem to like drowning them selves...

Try using some of the other suggestions like mustard, kale, ect....Or even a dry gutload...
