ZOMFG she's so preeeeeetty :)

If you happen to have a strawberry around, cut a small, really thin slice or two and rest it on a branch. They also like a piece of apple and kale or dandeline greens. If you have any dandeline in your yard wash well and try a leaf out. (think young and tender). Some will eat this and some won't. I put my fruit an veggies in a little plastic cup and clothespined it to a branch in the plant an waited. I had a couple that loved strawberries, the boys loved kale; you get the idea.

Yep we have a bowl hanging in there for her kale. Have put strawberry in there too and she rushes up to scoff it! Totally sticks her face in and wolfs it down :) try to keep it for a treat though as its got a lot of sugar. She likes red bell pepper and steamed sweet potatoe (yam) too!

5-6 a day would be quite a bit! Most dont feed more than 5-7 every other day, so usinf that much every day is a ton. Maybe if you did something like sandrachameleon where you fed 1-3 every day it would be alright. It really depends on what kind of feeders you use too because a large (2"+) silkworm is not equal to a large cricket.

Currently (we changed since you guys thought she was older ) we are feeding 3 crickets (about 12mms) and a silkworm or two (about 1in) or 5 crix if we have no silkies. The next day she will get 4 locust and a silkworm or 5 locust without the silkies. Crickets and locusts are dusted with plain calcium.

Is this still too much?

She was a little fatty when we got her but I don't think she was or is gravid yet. We will cut down to 3 or 4 bugs a day depending on size. The crickets are fairly big I guess but there's not a lot of meat on the locusts. The silkies we have just now are really small too.

It sounds like a lot. With bigger feeders like crickets and locusts, you really dont want to do more than 1-3 a day. They dont need as much food as some of us want to give them. It seems like not very much food, but if you want to keep her from laying or at least lay very few eggs, you have to keep it to a minimum. It hard to get your head around so little food but since they are reptiles, the feeding requirements are very different.

Thank you :) yes I think that's my problem. I want to feed her ( like you would with a baby) and since we were under the impression she was a juvenile I had it in my head that she was supposed to eat a lot then taper off with age. I realise the relationship between the amount of food and egg laying now and I will cut her food down again.

So how many crickets is a silkworm worth iyo? I know that they are very nutritious but mostly water yes?
