Shedding and Behavior

Does shedding usually start on the head of a panther chameleon? How long does a shed take? Is it normal behavior for her to hide in the back of her enclosure and not eat as much? TIA

Hey Theresa:)

Shedding can take within a few hours - to a few days:p

And the chams might be bothered by the shedding that they might not eat as much until after shedding, you can mist with warm water to help the shedding process go faster:D her hiding in the back might mean she is rubbing herself on the branches to take of the shed skin....

And shedding from the head is common at first, sometimes in other areas too:)

Hope this helps

yes, some chameleons do not eat or eat less during the shedding process. It can start at any point on the body and as they get older they may just shed in parts instead of a full body shed. As Ace said, mist your chameleon with warm water and that will aid him in his shedding.
