shedding again

so my baby veiled is having his second shed since i got him. i got him when he was just about a month old and one week after i got him he started to shed, but not all of the skin fell off there were still quite a bit hanging on. Now two weeks later he's having his second shed. People told me to mist him and i do but it doesn't seem to help ease the skin off and they also said to keep the humitity up, and its around 60-70% in the encloser... any suggestions to help ease the skin off?

anyone??? any suggestions? I guess non of your chameleons have ever sheded... maybe im just lucky and landed with one that sheds...

Sounds like you are doing all you can. Amy gets the odd bit of shed stuck on her. When I got her she had a bit stuck on her head but it came off with the next shed. It will come off eventually - don't be tempted to pull it off, it could damage the scales underneath if it is stuck on. Keep your cham well hydrated and perhaps mist for a little longer. Keeping the humidity a bit higher during a shed as you are doing is also a good idea. Retained shed can cause problems if it is stuck on their tail or toes/feet. In these places it can tighten and restrict the blood flow and cause problems. Babies usually pop their old skin off in a matter of hours!

The small ones grow pretty fast and that's why they shed so often. It's normal. When they are small they shed the whole body and as they get older they shed only pieces of body and the time between the sheds gets longer.
To help him get rid of his sheded skin apart from humidity is lots of plants- as he climbs them his skin falls off. This skin usually itches them and they are happy for lots of branches to nuzzle...
And no worries if not all of his sheded skin isn't away- if its not on the "critical parts" (like around the legs where the unsheded skin can cause strangulation) you can leave it there.
If you are not sure, post a picture and we will take a look....

Did your chameleon ever fully finish it's first shed before the second? Which parts are not shedding off? I do not have much advice to give about your problem (other then misting frequently with warm water); I have been warned before by my veterinarian that if your chameleon is having serious problems shedding then you should take it to the vet. Improperly shed skin can lead to things like amputation. Please keep in mind that there is such a thing called forum etiquette and don't become frustrated just because no one answers your questions right away. I am sure some one will be able to offer you sound advice. Be patient.

thanks Miss Lily. He's only two months old and some of his last shed was still stuck but most of it came off... and this time its been a few days and most came off but some is still stuck on so i dont know its a problem... not on his feet or tail though just a bit on his head and torso.

so it's been exacly one week now since he shedded and there are still a fair amount of skin stuck on his body but not his arms and legs and tail, only on his torso. I posted a few pictures, can you guys tell me if this is a problem? I mist 2 times a day with hot water that comes out really warm and I tired to keep the humidity up so it can help ease the skin off, but it dosnt seem to help. I apologize for the inverted pictures.

Well, this is still quite a lot of unsheded skin- that¨s not normal for such a little one.
What vitamins and this kind of stuff do you use and how often?

Its quite normal. Define 'normal' anyway! Recheck your ambient humidity levels throughout the cage with a reliable instrument. Its growing fast and its rate of slough is related to that. Homer used to have little bits here n there for weeks.
Chameleons seem to be notorious for odd sloughs, even in good conditions. Some slough quickly and neatly, others dont. Its aborial afterall, not like its enviroment is conductive to natural abrasion anyway.
Dont try to pull bits off. Cut down the misting a little maybe, let it dry off, this helps it lift aswell. More humidity is not always better.

So far all my sheds have been really quick with two of my Chams. One is a Nosy Be and the other is a Carpet. The carpet I just got last week and the very next day she shed. They both shed completely within 6 hours. All I do when I first see them shed is hand mist the crap out of them with warm water and it totally helps them. Maybe I have been lucky, I don't know for sure, but it works for me. On a tiny 2 month old veil would be pretty tough because they are so small. I have a Senegal that has white shed like stuff on his head since I bought him. I spray the crap out of him to try to get it off and it doesn't as wherever he shed before I think he wasn't well taken care of. I'm waiting for him to shed again to try to get it off.
