She is laying!

Hello all,
As you all know Brad R. has babies hatching out from Green Bean and Oggie. Well Green Bean is laying as I type. My question to everyone is how long can females retain sperm? Could I have a fertile clutch? How long before I should discard them?
Thanks in advance;)

Another Question

Ok guys need your help; lights went off at 7:00 now she is sleeping in the laying bin. Do I turn on a light or just leave her alone?

I would leave her alone, in the wild that's what would happen. She will probably continue in the morning. I have had the lights go out in the middle of a dig and I let her be, and everything worked out just fine.

she'll be fine only last night my li feamales lights went off while she was in her layin bin and this morning she finished layin as normal

Update!

Green Bean has finished laying and we have 69 eggs. I am going to keep these eggs as of now. However she has not been bred since previous owner had her so I don't know if we will have babies or not.

Congrats, and well done Green Bean! It's such a relief when the get the job finished! I think Lily is working on another clutch of infertiles too. Must be spring in the air!!:D

Sperm retention has been documented up to 2 years resulting in fertile clutches. Possibly longer, but definately 2 years has happenned in 3 occaisions with my Chams and others.:D

Green Bean has had her post laying shower 3 mistings and some crickets with calcium w/o d3. She is currently sitting under the drippier. She doesn't like the mistings.

WOW 2 years amazing animals. On that note how long before will it be before I know if they are infertile?

Teresa,

What temperature are you incubating them at?
The cooler you keep them, the longer infertile eggs will last.
I had them go 8 months, no mold or collapsing ... all infertile.
I had suspected they were but kept them just in case.
Candling will not show you anything ... just keep throwing out the ones that go bad.

She has been mated in the last year, there for she could have retained sperm from previous matting.
