she eats everything!!!!

There might be just the slightest swelling in the recent pics. Definitely not as much as when she was gravid. You can try cutting back a tad on the supplements if you like. Try dusting half the feeders or a smaller pinch. I have an uthmoelleri male that always seems to have tiny bit of swelling no matter how I supplement him. Ive talked to other keepers of the species who say the same. Im not too concerned with it as long as it is very minimal. I would feel the same for your female also.
thank you very much for your input its greatly appreciate it :) i will start cutting back on dusting, so other then that she looks in good shape?
again i will keep an eye on it too make sure it doesnt get to bad :)

Like I said, its only very minimal now. It does appear to have been because of being gravid. Do you see the difference between the first pics and last? She looks good. Maybe a little chubby in the casque but I would take that with a grain of salt:rolleyes: Ive only kept two veileds for very short period of time. How many eggs did she lay and how much/how often do you feed her? IMO a little under weight is better than over weight.

yes i do see the difference ...and yes she is overweight it isnt just her casque LOL  she has been ever since i got her and i am still trying to work on that ...she is my first cham so im still learning  she laid 48 eggs i believe ...if i remember correctly, and she didnt look skinny at all after she still her fat self. i used to feed her 6-10 crickets daily (i didnt know that was a no-no) but since then i only feed her 4-6 crickets or w/e feeder im using at the time depending on what it is(right now its soldier grub) i dont use a basking light for her since its always warm in the house 75-80 usually. :)
here is a link from when she was gravid, getting ready to lay and i posted a thread

LOL!!! She is definitely an excavator!!!:D 48 eggs doesnt seem too high compared to some of the other clutches I have heard about. What I would do is cut the feeding down to around 6 crickets or equivalent too every two or three days. This seems to be sufficient for adult animals. You might try to only feed her every 3 days or say 2 bugs a day if you dont want to make her go without (which WILL not harm her in any way). Do that until you notice her loosing some weight then go back to 6 crix every other day. This itself will also cut down on the supplements so you are probably safe using your same dusting method just every other day instead of every day.

Personally I do not like the idea of not giving chams a site to warm up in. I know it works and people have long lived animals but I worry about not getting sufficient UVA rays as much as UVB. I even supply my montanes with a basking site of around 83. This way they can warm up when they want and also get UVA rays which helps stimulate appetite. As I said, I know others have great success with your method and if it is working....well, dont fix what works;) As long as you can tell she is digesting her food correctly (no undigested feeders in the poo) then just keep doing what you are.

that was my one of my problems i hated saying no and cutting her off from food lol but i think il cut down to feeding her every 3 days and see how that goes :) she never had a problem with digesting food but this will be my first winter in my new place & first winter with her so we will see what happens i have the supplies and everything so it wouldnt be a problem. but she was my first female iv had and i think my last LOL all my other little guys are boys so i dont have to worry about clutches etc lol its much easier that way:p
