She didn't like the bin.....

Thought I would share some pics of what punking did a couple days ago. I had been watching her closely and keeping her cage covered since I could tell she was very close to laying. After coming home from work I see her under the basking light with dirt on her nose and looking 1/2 her normal gravid size so I was certain to be getting another fertile clutch out of her laying bin. First clutch she had no problems and laid perfectly. I dug the entire bin up carefully to find no eggs. Confused I went back to see if I had rushed to judgement but she was eating like crazy and super skinny so there was no doubt the eggs were no longer in her belly. I pulled out her plant to find where she had laid 32 perfect white eggs. I guess you never really know what women want.....

Congratulations on the eggs!:) I had a female do the same thing, it took her 2 days of digging through all the roots lol

Congrats! Glad to hear that your female's doing well. My female Camille would never use a bin and the first time she laid she dug through the root of her plant and laid. After that we used a BIG trash can and she liked that.

Thanks Suzi. It really made getting the eggs into the vermiculite a lot easier. I was able to save the plant as well!

Thanks Jann. Punkin had no problem with the first clutch but maybe the sand/dirt mixture was not quite right for her or too exposed. She is huge for a panther female so I may need to try the trash can next time around.
