Sexing my blue barred panther

I bought my new Cham from a reptile show approx. 3 weeks ago, they didn't know if it is a male or female. Approx. 3 1/2 months old. Such a sweety. Can anyone give me some insight??? Thank u for any suggestions u may have!

Hi,
Welcome to the forum , without a better pic of the tail to body close up I would have to say female . Has your chameleon shown any colors yet? Or is it pinkish tan most of the time? If the seller couldn't tell if male or female , I'd say they were trying to get rid of a female. You can sex a panther at a young age. Looks healthy, how is it eating and drinking ?

Thank you!! It just shed, I thought I seen hints of teal, and sometimes the barrs are really dark. It has grown so much in the time we bought it , eating like a horse!! Training well, very sweet, loves laying under the dripper each day for a shower. I'm heart broken, as we really wanted a male. We questioned the lady as she had three babies, she thought he would be a male due to the others had shown signs of pink to them.

It won't have bumps/spurs as it is a panther and not a veiled.

I'm saying female based on colour and lack of bulge. Bonny Cham.

If you are seeing teal , you may have a male! Every time a male panther sheds it changes its color dimension . Females show little to no color other than tan to pink shades. Tail looks thin yet in the pics.
You should check out Olympias web site she is smart and helpful. Much ado about chameleons. She has a good blog about sexing panthers. I have read her blog for years before I found this site very helpful also.
There are no bad chameleons have a great time, enjoy!

Thanks Dave , I will check it out! Guess I will buy a male in the future, for her benefit. Lol! I can't allow her to become egg bound from stress.

Looks female, skinny tail with a slight indentation just behind her cloaca, her rostral process (nose) doesn't seem to extend past her mouth. As far as the teal coloration, she will more than likely have a teal or light blue coloration just behind her eyes on the side of her head, this coloration is on a lot of our panther females, and for what ever reason, it seams to be more evident on our Ambanja gals. She is beautiful, you shouldn't have to worry about her becoming egg bound, just watch the signs. When she starts cruising the cage bottom, get her a bucket of moist soil or vermiculite, and let her do her thing. There is some great care facts for female Chams on this sight.
