I realise that there is no science to this and that it is very difficult to sex a baby panther chameleon, however I am looking for some advise of what I should be able to see at around 5 months of age.
Obviously one of the big give-aways is colour, but would you expect a 5 month old panther to be showing much colour or just "hints". Mine has a bit of green around the face but not much else. Occasionally we see a tinge of green on the legs and body.
I keep looking for a bulge at the base of the tail but am seeing nothing. Again is this something that develops with age or would you expect this to be obvious by now?
Finally I believe that the Rostral (above the mouth) will become more protuding with a male. Should this be evident in a younger chameleon?
I know there are lots of variables but I'm looking for general opinions / experiences. This has recently started to become more prominent and does stick out just past the upper lip.
Any tips would be very much appreciated.
