Settling in

The Oscar dude

New Member
hi all just a quick note with a couple of points on Oscar settling in to his new home.
All seems good had him 2 months now so he is around 6 months old.
Here are points that I would like comments/advice on.
His poo looks as it should, he always poos in the same area in his viv , do they like specific toilets areas ? Ps the springtails are cleaning up a treat.
He tends to settle down on his favourite perch about 1 hour to half an hour before lights out in the sleeping position but still looking around, is this ok ?
He has an enormous appetite, I feed from a cup and notice he will eat 7/9 med crickets at one go then I let free into the viv what’s left usually about 3/5 which he hunts down after a10 min bask and a few long stretches
I am gut loading with a wet mix of all the best as recommended on here , liquidised and frozen into ice cube trays and defrosting as required.
The feeders are separated from the rest and gut loaded for 24 hours then dusted and offered about 20 mins after lights on.
He is eating all the new shoots on the umbrella tree in his viv, is this ok?
He is hunting most of the time when not basking and seems happy, except when handled once a week for a health check , he is very bad tempered until he is on your hand then all he wants to do is explore arround the house.
Any comments are welcome as very new to chameleons and want him to have a good life.

Looks like you've been doing your homework, Settling in about an hour before lights out is totally normal.

Thanks trying to get it right but there are many differing views on here Re gut load and vitamins I am trying to follow the path is there anyone who posts on here that is well respected ,knowledgeable and straight to the point with the above.
Once again thanks
