so as you may have read in my previous post "Finally got dubia!" i just got htese guys today lol well i am sitting here watvching a movie in my room and well...I hear them doing their pitter pattering nd wow are they loud... but my question. I keep hearing like sudden scattering and almost like sprinting i guess and they are being very loud lol are they fighting or....? they are just going to town in there. It is completely dark and I left some mango in there for them to gutload. And one other thing, how often do I feed them? thanks guys

Yea can be noisy ha running around. You can feed them as much as they'll eat and change out the food every other day or so to prevent mold and they should be gutloaded with more than mango and fruits really and they love dinofuel and bug Burger for sure.

I will have to look into getting some of that, I am limited on money after the show so I would get it if I could. Thank you for the info guys!

They are nocturnal and active at night. The fact that you had just fed them with the mango is what all the movement is about. My bin is quiet active at lights out and feedings. During the day and non-feedings they usually huddle together in the egg flats, but a few are always roaming and make a skuffling noise. But nothing like when you feed and the whole colony is active. I have a few thousand so you can imagine.

I still prefer them over crickets.:D

I find with a nice layer of frass (poop) on the bottom of the bin keeps the scraping noise down too.

LOLOL that cracks me up, wouldnt you not want all the frass on the bottom? I figured you wouldnt want all the bacteria and such.
You'll laugh at this though, last night when I was half asleep laying there on my bed (I dont like the roaches all that much yet lol) I freaked out because I was having one of those half asleep dreams where you think someting is happening so you react but in all reality nothing is going on lol I thought there were roaches in my bed!! lol they were on the other side of my room ha so I was flailing and freaking out :D

Hahah thats funny! I don't think there poop has much bacteria I save it for fertilizer along with other poo lol. What I do for there constant food supply is mix 5050 dinofuel and bugburger add water til nice consistancy (no pooling water)and microwave for a little bit stir zap it again for a few seconds and then freeze it. They love this stuff as well as crickets. Then I through in whatever Vega and fruits I have and sometimes ill give them Vega with dinofuel on them and they go crazy for that stuff. Hope this helps they really are better than crix to keep but I keep both for variety and find crix easier to dust.

that's the worst part about keeping the dubia. THE SCURRYING AROUND NOISE!!:eek: So.F'n.Creepy.Gross. sounding!!
