Senegal Chams

Hey, i just picked up two senegal chameleons this weekend. I heard they dont need that much humidity but i am picking up a humidifier soon, i have a 24 x 18 x 24 cage with a weeping ficus and pothos plant. Have a uvb bulb, no heat lamp as my temp hovers around 70-80 in the room (i live in las vegas).

The problem is, my smaller senegal seems to act dead but when i try to cut the losses and take him out of the cage, he starts moving and climbs away. Have any answers for me? Is it not hot enough (dont have a basking lamp if he doesnt have enough energy). Is the other chameleon eating all the food? lol. My other one has no problems and is growing well.

well as a general rule, chams should be housed individually, so the larger one could be eating his food and stuff, and he probably is sick, wc senegals(which it probably is) carry a heavy parasite load that can do damage if not taken care of

well it looks like the little guy is doing fine. the place i bought them from said they get them from a breeder, ill look into it further. i took him outside and he started running around and climbin all over me hehe. so i guess i need a basking lamp even though a 'specialist' i talked to said otherwise.

well, he probably said not to because it would make the cage hotter, but if you get one just for one spot thats not tooo hot thatd be good for him, and im glad to hear hes fine

heres a pic of the bigger one. how do you differentiate male / female with senegals?

Hemipenal bulge at the base of the tail = male.
The chameleon pictured looks very dehydrated.
These chameleons are <most likely> wild caught ... I would be REALLY surprised if they were CB.
This species is not social and the 2 animals need to be separated as soon as possible. My guess is this is why the smaller one is behaving the way it is.
Get fecals done soon too. This species carries a decent parasite load, and they are (again) wild caught.
