Semi Hydro

I thought I might share how I am growing alot of my plants. It involves absolutly no soil at all and is almost fool proof. Semi hydro! I have been experimenting with semi hydro for the past year on my orchid collection, and have started adding some of my tropicals with great results. It basically involves potting a bare rooted plant into a watertight container filled with aggregate. I wont explain this well, so here is the link to where I learned this from: http://www.firstrays.com/shphotos.htm

I have a few in my Cham enclosures to catch the extra water from my drippers and I dont have to worry about organic dirt!:D The reservoirs also keep you from needing to water the plants all the time too! Check it out!

I used all my extra hydroballs from my pygmies tank on my orchids. They are doing extremely well, the roots go crazy and you don't have to worry about the bark rotting and taking the roots with it. I like it too. The girl from AZDR.com where I got the hydroballs told me it was great for orchids. By the way, I love your orchid paintings, they are amazing!
