Sealed or Unsealed Branches

I'm starting to gather branches for my first ever enclosure. I saw a post mentioning that their branches were starting to decay after several years of moisture on them. So does anyone seal their branches to protect them? If so, what method do you use?

Use oak, maple or other hard wood branches and they will last. Pine and other soft woods will not stand up to the moisture well.
