Screen climbing

So basically, Amaro screen climbs a bit during the day. Hes 3 1/2 months, maybe slightly older. I know its normal for babies to sometimes do this, but its at least 3-4 times a day. I just don't want him to rip his claws out. I just recently removed all but one tiny bunch of fake plants and replaced them with Pothos. He is a Veiled. His temperatures are 82-84 at the basking place. He also is finishing up his first shedding in my care today. It took 2 days, thought it was supposed to be pretty quick?

Hes acting completely normal otherwise, slowly warming up to me. Still slightly touchy about eating, but poops almost everyday.

Im probably just worrying about nothing, lol. Ive only had him for 3 weeks.

Also, on a side note, does anyone know how much weight the top part of the frame on a reptibreeze can hold? I'm thinking of hanging a small Pothos from up there when I can get one, but I can't currently get dragon ledges.

You can lay a thin board on top of the cage. (A 2x2 or a 2x1)From frame rail to frame rail and then suspend the pothos from a hook screwed into the wood and make a single small hole in the screen.
I made an overhead wooden shelf for my dripper system.

Constructing lattices could help with the screen climbing and suspending things! It can hold quite a bit of weight, and Lily (female panther chameleon) frequenty uses it to climb around. This is my ReptiBreeze (bioactive) enclosure:

Oh! thanks! <3

Your girl is so cute! Amaro is still very skittish so I don't take pictures of him at all. I only have pictures of when I unboxed him lol.

The name 'Amaro' means bitter so it makes sense for a veiled, ha.

No problem, and thank you! Lily is a very sweet girl, though she struggles with ongoing health issues (the primary reason she's in a smaller than recommended cage).

Seems like your Amaro is well named, haha! He'll get used to you eventually... and then it'll be all sass! :p

Chances are no matter how much they have to do inside the cage, they're still gonna be "SpiderCham". Both my males loved climbing the top and being upside down. My female is just at 5.5-6months and is just getting too fat to do it, but still will try if startled.

If your light isn't too close to the top, you'll be fine. If your light is too close, just lift it up a bit. Eventually they'll grow out of it.

I will note that when my males are "on the prowl" they can and will climb anything and everything, screen included. I have most of my chams in custom enclosures where the top screen isn't accessible, but they still occasionally climb the sides. My females definitely have the fingernails to climb screen... they just have a LOT more weight to support and prefer the comfort of the vines and trees.

Overall, it's a phase. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Best wishes.

I'll second that. All hail the veiled
