Screen Cage Suggestions??

I have a 7 month old male veiled that I bought from someone locally about three weeks ago. His cage came with him. It is a 24x24x48, which is good, but the cage is not holding up. The crickets escape out of the door slot and my son is getting tired of finding crickets in his room!! Also, the bottom of the cage is starting to warp and leaving gaps there also. There is a very nice size fica plant/tree that also came with him. I have been buying DIY cages and love them, but they don't carry anything over the 18x18x36 size. Any suggestions for a brand that will hold up better in the same size? (And no, unforutnately I have no "build-it-myself" skills.) Thanks!

Lll has reptibreezes and their own brand. Other wise find a nice burly man friend or handy lady friend to make one for you :)

i just recently built my own...it was fairly simple and cheap...i will post pics asap....i just need to set up my plants and stuff.... actually look for serenitystarlight on this forum and search for her thread... cage plans for 2x2x5ft wooden cage...thats where i got my plans...it cost me roughly 200 for the supplies but it is well worth it...if you would buy a enclosure like that at a store you would pay a lot more....plus it was fun making it.....

Please do post pics. A Reptibreeze will cost around $100 plus shipping for the 24x24x48 so I might try to build my own. Pictures and a step by step would be wonderful for a building challenged person like myself. Thanks!

An lll brand screen aluminum cage is about 80 plus shipping, so it is about 90-100 shipped (give or take a few bucks.) I think it's worth it if you are lacking in the carpentry department such as myself.

The LLL cages are great! They are better than the Zoo Med reptibreeze and cost less. All I have are LLL cages. You will be glad you spent the money!

Part of the problem is the cage he is in now, is a lllreptile cage, so I really don't know if another one would be better. I did go to Lowe's today and I bought a window latch that I am going to try to fix the door with. I also bought a sheet of this type of house siding, 3/4" thick, totally waterproof, that they cut for me. I'm going to try that for the bottom. Basically, I spent about $30 and hopefully this will fix the issues I am having. Thanks for your help everyone!

I have both LLL cages and Zoo Med ones. Personally, they're almost exactly the same.

Good luck on building your own, and let us know how it goes! :)

I like the LLL cages and have purchased them in the past. However, lately I have been buying the cages from FL Chams. You may pay a few dollars more, but they are sturdier and overall better than anything out there. You have to keep in mind that the bigger the cage gets, the easier it is to become flimsy unless they are DIY with extra bracing. The 48" ones from FL Chams are great.

(and if you are going to be venturing up to Chicago for the NARBC show in Feb., I will have some for sale ;))
